Product description
Al Carmine takes its name from the distinctive church that dominates one of Valtellina's best zones: the Inferno, the smallest of four subzones of Valtellina Superiore D.O.C.G. Powerful and generous, this classic Inferno is born from Nebbiolo grapes produced by our estate, particularly vineyards located where the high slope of the soil and high temperatures in summer make cultivation a very hard job. A "hell of a job", as the winemakers say! According to the disciplinary measures for "Valtellina Superiore D.O.C.G." production, a wine can only be labelled "Riserva" after 36 months of refining, 12 of which are in oak barrels.
Yield: ~60 q/ha with late harvest by the end of October Vineyards: east-west, with southern exposure to the sun in the production areas of Valtellina Superiore Inferno in the municipalities of Montagna in Valtellina, Poggiridenti and Tresivio. The hills are situated at an altitude between 300 and 450 metres above sea level. Soil type: Sandy soil, permeable, moderately deep. Vinification: Fermentation "a cappello sommerso" for about 12 days at a controlled temperature. Aging: This wine is aged in small oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months and then in large oak barrels for a good period. Then another maturation, of at least 8 months, takes place directly in bottle.
Ageing potential: If stored in an appropriate place, this wine can live for more than 10 years.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
