Barbera d’Alba DOC “Classica” comes from the beautiful hills of Bassa and Alta Langa in Piedmont, a region known for its rich winemaking tradition and unique terroir. This area offers the perfect combination of climate, soil, and elevation to give the Barbera grape its characteristic freshness and complexity.
The wine is made in the traditional way, with careful handpicking of the grapes to select only the best quality. After harvesting, there is a maceration period of 10 to 12 days to extract the intense color, aromas, and tannins. Then, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, which changes the sharp malic acids into softer lactic acids, giving the wine a fuller structure.
During the cold winter months, the wine rests in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels. This keeps the fresh fruit aromas while adding complexity. It is lightly filtered to keep its natural character and is bottled at the end of spring or early summer.
Barbera d’Alba “Classica” shows a bright ruby red color with purple reflections. It has fruity aromas of cherries, raspberries, and plums with floral notes of violets. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a good balance of freshness and softness.
This versatile wine pairs well with rich dishes such as stews, lamb, grilled meats, and aged cheeses. Serve at 18 to 20°C in wide glasses to fully enjoy its complex aromas and elegant structure.
