This Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG is a powerful, unfiltered red wine with a deep and impenetrable purple-red character. The grapes come from 35- to 45-year-old vines, located on a south-western slope with calcareous soils. The manual harvest takes place in the second and third weeks of September, after which the grapes are carefully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, temperatures rise to 27-28°C to enhance colour and structure. Maceration lasts 8-12 days with daily remontages to optimise the extraction of aromas and tannins.
After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 to 16 months in a combination of barriques and tonneaux, after which it is blended and further refined in bottle for at least another six months. This creates a wine with a layered and complex character. On the nose, notes of ripe cherries, red berries, spices and vanilla emerge. The palate reflects these aromas with a perfect balance of freshness, soft tannins and an elegant, long-lasting finish.
With an alcohol content of at least 14%, this Barbera d'Asti Superiore is an excellent companion to hearty dishes such as roasted or braised red meat and aged cheeses. Served at 18-20°C, its full and structured character is at its best. Thanks to refined aging, this wine has a storage potential of 5 to 15 years, during which it will continue to develop and gain even more depth.
