This Bardolino Classico is Lake Garda's most iconic wine product, reflecting the region's rich history and tradition. It is a wine that perfectly complements local gastronomy, but at the same time is modern and versatile enough to match contemporary wine trends. As the saying in the region goes, "The fish is born in the lake and dies in the Bardolino!" - a nod to the classic pairing of this wine with lake dishes.
The grapes come from moraine hills around Calmasino di Bardolino (VR), where the vines are grown via the traditional pergola method. The blend consists of 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 10% Molinara. The manually harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation on the skins for seven days, without temperature control, using autochthonous yeasts derived from a pied de cuve of Corvina. The wine then ages for several months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks.
The result is a bright red wine with a brilliant ruby colour. On the nose, it is intense and vinous, with floral notes of violets, ripe red fruit and a hint of English liquorice. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, slightly tannic, with a distinctive spicy minerality that invites the next sip. This wine is a timeless tribute to the terroir of Bardolino, but at the same time fresh and accessible to any wine drinker today.
