Product description
The 'Berulfo' Toscana IGT Rosso from Tenuta Scrafana is a red wine made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese and is best enjoyed with pork tenderloin, guinea fowl and beef.
The 'Berulfo' Toscana IGT Rosso is produced with the grapes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The hand-picked grapes are vinified separately in cement and stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25ºC. Maceration lasts an average of 20 days, with daily pumping and délestages to achieve greater extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
The wine has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. The intense bouquet offers very elegant and refined aromas, with floral and fruity notes, followed by hints of blackcurrant and forest floor, supported by spicy notes and balsamic aromas. The palate is full with a balanced body, prominent tannins reduce the perception of softness but indicate great future potential. It is a harmonious wine with character and personality, finishing with a long persistence of freshness and spiciness. The alcohol content is 14.5% vol. This wine goes well with pork tenderloin from the oven, guinea fowl in red wine, pigeons in stew, and roast beef. The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18 °C.
The structure, which is characteristic of the land of Tenute Scrafana, is reflected in the name, that of the first lord of the Montevarchi area, the Longobard Berulfo, who around 615-620 asked for and received the right to manage the area and on which he built monasteries and castles. The image on the label is dedicated to Berulfo and underlines a bond that we still feel today, despite the many centuries that have passed, because it is based on a direct and instinctive love for an area that is unique in the world.
