The Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG is an exceptional red wine that masterfully expresses the richness of the Barbera grape. This wine is made from 100% Barbera grapes, carefully hand-picked in small baskets to guarantee the highest quality. After destemming and crushing, a traditional fermentation follows in cement tanks. The wine undergoes a long maceration with the skins for 15 to 20 days, which ensures deep color and complex aromas. The wine then ages for 12 months in French barriques and tonneaux, which results in a beautiful balance between fruitiness and wood notes. After this aging period, the wine is stored in the bottle for another 6 months to fully develop its elegant character.
With an average age of 30 to 35 years, the vines, located on east to southeast slopes at 400 meters altitude in Castel Boglione, give this Barbera a unique freshness and minerality. The result is a powerful wine with seductive hints of dark fruit and a silky smooth finish, which is perfectly balanced thanks to the aging in oak.
