The 'Charakter' Côtes du Roussilon from La Perdrix is an organic red wine made from Syrah and Mourvèdre that pairs beautifully with red meat, game and cargolade catalane.
The Charakter 2022 from the Côtes-du-Roussillon is a wine of exceptional class. This cuvée falls under the category of "Nos vins d'excellence" and is offered in a 75-cl bottle with an alcohol content of 14%. The wine comes from Aspres, an area at the foot of the Pyrenees. Trouillas' terroir is characterised by loamy-clay soils with an extremely stony surface. The vineyards, which are managed sustainably, benefit from an excellent location on the slopes of Mas Deu and the terraces between Trouillas and Terrats.
The Charakter 2022 is a blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre, with a production of just 4,000 bottles. Vinification includes maceration of destemmed and crushed grapes, with daily remontage and délestage. The cuvaison lasts 28 days and after malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
On tasting, the wine reveals powerful aromas of preserved black fruit, supported by nice tannins. The Charakter goes perfectly with fine cuts of red meat, game dishes and a traditional cargolade catalane. The wine has a storage potential of 10 years and is best served between 15 and 16°C.
