ClimbWines III "Free Solo" is not a wine for the cautious aficionado. It is a pure, uncompromising natural wine that, like its namesake in climbing, completely breaks free of conventions. This wine is made the same way a Free Solo climb is undertaken: with no safety net, no security, in complete surrender to the natural balance between man and environment. No treatments, no clearances, no filtration - just grape, yeast and time.
Made from Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), this wine is fermented entirely on the skins with wild yeasts, then aged on full yeast in a 500-litre Tonneaux. The result is intense and lively. On the nose, it shows a wild, slightly reductive aroma, with aromas of hay, flowers and rosehip. On the palate, it convinces with an unpolished structure, powerful body and clearly present tannins. The finish is long and grips with a firm grip of yeasts and skin contact.
ClimbWines III is the outlier in the collection, but also the most authentic expression of grape and terroir. At 12% alcohol content, packaged in a stylish Burgundy bottle with natural cork and sealed with wax, this is a wine that takes guts - but rewards big time. An experience for the adventurous drinker, unfiltered and artless. Pure nature.
