Château Roquevieille's 'Cuvée Excellence' is a prestigious Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux that fully lives up to its name. Originating from the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, at one of the highest points of the Gironde, this wine benefits from exceptional terroir and an ideal hillside location. These special conditions give the wine power, finesse and depth.
The blend consists mainly of Merlot, supplemented by a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. Vinification is done with extreme care, with a strict selection per parcel. The grapes are vinified in small concrete cuves and in 500-litre oak barrels, maximising the expression of the fruit and terroir. Maturation then takes place in barrel for a long time, with no or minimal siphoning, using a so-called "redox" method. This promotes aromatic purity and contributes to the wine's rich structure and impressive length.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals a complex aroma with notes of black fruit and roasted coffee. On the palate, the wine is powerful, elegant and perfectly balanced, with a long finish. It is a wine with great storage potential, which pairs excellently with flavoursome meat dishes, such as a classic côte de bœuf grilled on vines. An impressive wine for lovers of characterful Bordeaux.
