This 'Forster' Riesling Trocken Ortswein is a textbook example of how Riesling can express its origins with crystal clarity. Sourced from top vineyards such as Pechstein, Ungeheuer and Freundstück in the renowned wine region of Forst (Palatinate), this wine brings a sublime blend of power, finesse and expression.
The vineyard soils in Forst are rich in a unique variety of rocks, including basalt, limestone and sandstone, which combine to create a distinct minerality and unparalleled elegance in the wine. Thanks to the high altitude and cool nights, the grapes retain their freshness and aromas optimally.
The Riesling grapes are harvested manually and selectively, carefully pressed and fermented with natural yeasts. Maturation takes place partly in large wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel, both on the fine lees, which provides a firm structure and extra complexity.
In the glass, this wine shows refined and powerful, with an herb-rich nose, subtle reduction, notes of salzzitrone, and a smoky, salty minerality. The finish is long, fresh and perfectly balanced, with an alcohol content of 12% vol.
This Ortswein is ideal for those who like complex Rieslings with a fresh, dry style. Wonderful with seafood, oysters, ceviche or Asian dishes with lime and coriander. A wine that elegantly lets the distinctive power of Forst speak for itself - a true terroir Riesling for lovers of depth and finesse.
