The 'Fra Moriale' Verdiccio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC is a white wine made from 100% Verdicchio with 6 months aging in oak barrels that goes perfectly with white meat, grilled vegetables and fish. The wine is named after a famous skipper who plundered several castles and palaces in the 14th century and so by chance stumbled upon a very special wine that he and his companions thoroughly enjoyed. That wine came from the current Staffolo Classico DOC. These grapes for this wine come from the most careful selection of the ripest grapes from particularly well-exposed vineyards. They are pressed with pneumatic presses to get the best of the must. Fermentation takes place in steel vats after which the grapes are aged 'sur lies' in barrels and then in oak barrels. After aging for six months, the wine is bottled and refined in bottle for several more months before it is ready to be consumed. The wine is best enjoyed at 12-14 °C in good white wine glasses that can enhance the aromatics and flavour.
