The 'Grosses Gewächs' Verrenberger Verrenberg Lemberger Trocken 2021 is a highly concentrated, fruity red wine made from 100% Lemberger and is best enjoyed with game and beef, and stewed vegetables.

The 2021 Verrenberger Verrenberg Lemberger “Grosses Gewächs” is an impressively concentrated and voluminous red wine. This Lemberger is packed with ripe fruit notes of raspberries and blackberries, with a creamy texture that is beautifully expressed in the long finish. The wine has a pronounced fine-grained tannin structure that gives it great aging potential. The result is an exceptionally dense and complex wine.

The grapes were sourced from the best plots at the Verrenberger Verrenberg monopoly site, and the wine matured entirely on barrique, 2/3 of which was used for the first time. This gives the wine extra depth and complexity, with wood influences subtly present.
With an alcohol content of 13.0%, this wine can be drunk until 2035 and the ideal drinking temperature is 18°C.

An exceptional vintage: late frosts in spring and a summer with little sunshine and above-average rainfall made for a very challenging wine year: in addition to high infection pressure from fungal diseases, we had to deal with the enormous growth of the foliage. A great deal of manual labor and detailed work steps resulted in a very selective hand harvest.
A real “cool climate vintage”. 

Food Recommendation: This Lemberger is an excellent accompaniment to roasted lamb chop with couscous and spicy peppers, or a Swabian onion roast with braised onions, strong gravy and spätzle.
