The 'H.A.D.E.S.' Chardonnay Trocken 2022 is a full-bodied, smooth, juicy white wine made from 100% Chardonnay.
The 'H.A.D.E.S.' Chardonnay presents itself in the glass with a medium lemon yellow color and bright viscosity. The subtle use of wood emerges in the aroma, while cool fruit aromas dominate, typical of this style of Chardonnay. On the palate, this wine offers a full body, complemented by delicate spices coming from the Keuper soil, light notes of toasted bread and a juicy structure. The finish is long, slightly salty and retains tension, contributing to a pleasant drinking experience.
This wine comes from the best parcels in the Verrenberger Verrenberg and has undergone 100% aging in barriques, 2/3 of which were used for the first time. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, the wine offers drinking pleasure until 2037 and is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 8°C.
At the Falstaff Chardonnay Trophy 2024, this wine was awarded 93 points. According to the jury report of August 16, 2024:
“A wine of size and substance with good dynamics, supported by present acidity. Smooth fullness is filled with notes of ripe pear and mirabel plum. A long finish completes this wine.”
The 2022 vintage was marked by drought, but found its balance thanks to late rain in September. This balanced the initially high must weights with water retention, leading to excellent quality in the grapes and ultimately the wine.
