The JS Pons Rouge is an organic red wine made from Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache noir that goes perfectly with roasted meats and game.
The Joseph Sébastien Pons, from the Côtes-du-Roussillon, is a powerful and spicy wine with an alcohol content of 14.5%. This wine, has twice won the gold medal at Gilbert and Gaillard, confirming its excellence. The terroir of this wine is in the Aspres region, an outflowing area of the Pyrenees. Trouillas' vineyards are known for their loamy-clay soils with an extremely stony top layer.
Thanks to innovative and organic farming and a favourable location on the slopes of Mas Deu and the terraces between Trouillas and Terrats, high quality grapes are produced here.
The wine is a blend of Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Grenache Noir, with a total production of 15,000 bottles and 600 magnums. Vinification includes maceration of destemmed and crushed grapes, with daily remontage and délestage. After a 28-day cuvaison, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
On tasting, the dark, young ruby colour immediately catches the eye. The bouquet is pleasant, combining refinement with fruity aromas and soft spicy notes. On the palate, the wine offers flavours of chocolate, fine tannins and a distinct personality.
This wine goes perfectly with roasted meats, red meat and game. It also pairs wonderfully with fine regional meats. With a storage potential of 5 to 10 years, this wine can develop even further, and for the best taste experience, it is recommended to serve it between 15 and 16°C.
