Exclusive sweet Petit Manseng, hand-harvested from old vines, aged in French oak, with citrus, honey, and apricot flavors, fresh and complex.
Here we have an exceptional sweet wine, made from 100% Petit Manseng from old vines. These grapes grow on a steep slope with clay-silicon soil with large pebbles, and a single green grass between the vines provides lush leaf coverage. Harvesting is done by hand, in several rounds from mid-November to early December. A slow pressing is followed by several weeks' fermentation in French oak barrels, followed by maturation of 12 to 18 months in the same barrels. The result? A Petit Manseng harvested at the peak of ripeness, with a complex palette of candied citrus, honey, medlar and dried apricot. On tasting, the mouth reflects this intensity, with a perfect balance between the sweet caress of the liqueur and an unparalleled freshness that gives this wine exceptional length. And as for gastronomy? This wine goes perfectly with an aperitif, foie gras, smoked salmon, Pyrenean farmhouse sheep cheese, roquefort, or just on its own to fully appreciate all its aromas.
In the hills of Monein, near Pau and at the foot of the Pyrenees, lie 12 hectares of very old and historical grounds where the vines of Domaine Montesquiou are planted. According to legends, a count named Montesquiou came to Béarn long ago to marry and subsequently founded an estate in his name.
