The 'Le Cata' Orange Vin de France from Mas de Rey is a complex, spicy orange wine made from 100% Gewurztraminer and is best enjoyed with spicy food or as an aperitif. This wine could also be used perfectly in a cocktail!
This characterful wine reveals an autumnal orange colour that announces a complex nose of rose, mixed with notes of sweet spices and brushwood. The palate is lively, the mouth is generous, the tannins giving body to this terroir wine.
This wine's special feature is that it can be used in mixology. Cata spritz, Cata sour or even a revised Negroni, we recommend. For the purists, you can drink the orange wine as an aperitif, during a meal with worldly dishes, especially with spices. It is also a wine that can be drunk after a meal with a fruit dessert.
The Gewurztraminer is a grape variety planted on the plateau of the Crau in 2013. The Crau is characterised by its limestone and clay soils. The large boulders and a depth of several centimetres make it unique. The Gewurztraminer is harvested between 20 and 25 August at Mas de Rey. The grapes are vinified without crushing in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank, with pigeage and remontage for 5 days. The pressing is gentle. Further vinification takes place in stainless steel or concrete tanks.
