Nizza DOCG Riserva 'Leone' is a tribute to Uncle Giovanni, better known as the 'Leone di Bore'. He opened his tavern on 1 May 1956, where his enthusiasm and hospitality endeared him to his village of Villa Franchi di Bore. Like him, this wine is powerful and full of character, a Nizza Riserva that matures silently in the cellars of Vinicola Arno, to develop with time into a wine of great depth.
This 100% Barbera is aged for a minimum of 30 months, some of it in wooden barrels, giving the wine impressive structure and storage potential. With a deep ruby colour and a complex aromatic profile, 'Leone' opens with notes of cherries on alcohol, cugnà (Piedmontese grape must jam), liquorice and subtle balsamic hints. It then reveals roasted nuances of coffee and cocoa, making for a layered and refined experience.
The palate is intense and full, with a long, savoury finish that lingers for a long time. 'Leone' is a wine for connoisseurs, perfect with rich meat dishes, game or aged cheeses. A tribute to tradition and craftsmanship, captured in a bottle.
