The Les Grès 2020 Rouge AOP Luberonis a red wine made from Serine (40%) and Carignan (60%) and is best drunk with game, red meat and medium hard cheeses. The Serine, a lesser-known name, is also known as Syrah.
The plot where these grapes come from is located at an altitude of 300 metres at the foot of the Luberon. In summer, the microclimate allows Mas Lauris' vineyards to benefit from cool nights that temper the heat of the days. The mistral, which blows throughout the year, plays a crucial role in the health of these grapes. These factors allow the maturity of the grapes to give finesse and freshness to the wine.
The harvest of this wine took place under beautiful weather conditions and cool nights, allowing fresh grapes to be harvested in impeccable health. 2020 is certainly one of the finest vintages of recent years.
The vinification process went as follows: Alcoholic fermentation in raw concrete vats. On receipt, 1/3 is put into the barrels in whole bunches, 1/3 is destemmed but not bruised and 1/3 is destemmed and bruised. Light sulphitation. Blending after 4 weeks of maceration. Light sulphitation at bottling. Wine is neither filtered nor clarified.
On tasting, the wine reveals an intense garnet colour with violet nuances. The bouquet offers aromas of blackcurrant, complemented by notes of liquorice and a hint of pepper. On the palate, the wine is well balanced, with spicy and cocoa notes, and remarkable length. This red wine harmonises perfectly with red meat, game and hard cheeses, and is also an excellent companion for unsweetened chocolate desserts. Although ready to enjoy now, this wine also has an ageing potential of 15 years after decanting. Discover the freshness and generous red fruit character embodied by this beautiful 2020 vintage.
Les Grès is a cuvée produced only in the best vintages of Mas Lauris. This wine, characterised by its southern character thanks to the predominant Carignans with a combination of elegance and power, supported by balanced tannins, it is ideal for game or red meat. Can be drunk now, but will be at its peak in a few years.
