'Ludovica' Langhe Rosso DOC

The Langhe DOC Rosso “Ludovica” is a wine that excels for its structure and the patience of 18 months of aging, an essential characteristic that the winery cherishes in order for consumers to enjoy its full splendor. Originating from the hills of “Madre Langa,” this cuvée is a careful blend of grapes grown by experienced local farmers with whom the company has worked for many years. The first vintage in 2011 celebrates the birth of Ludovica, daughter of the makers, and combines Cabernet Sauvignon with Barbera and Nebbiolo.

The winery vinifies this wine with pure grapes, blended for each vintage before or after malolactic fermentation, depending on the year. Maturation takes place partly in 500 and 2,000-liter French oak barrels, with a subtle wood influence that preserves the wine's Piedmontese character. This creates an elegant, powerful wine with velvety tannins and a color that ranges from ruby red to deep dark, depending on the vintage.

The “Ludovica” reflects passion for family, work and Langa traditions. Each glass offers a surprising taste experience, rooted in the authenticity of this region.

Canonica's story begins in the 1930s when Armando Canonica started a farm with an associated shop. It was not until 1964, when his son Cesare took charge, that the vineyard took the impressive shape it has today. Cesare has worked for years to preserve and use sustainable and environmentally friendly processes which was rewarded in 2005 when Canonica officially became a certified organic farm.
