The 'Maurleo' Terre di Pisa Rosso DOC is a red wine made from 50% Sangiovese, 40% Malvasia Nera and 10% Canaiolo and goes perfectly with grilled meats and lasagnes.
The wine has a dark ruby red colour with purple hues. The wine displays rich aromas of red fruit with subtler hints of vanilla. On the palate, the wine gives a velvety experience with pronounced tannins. The grapes for the wine are harvested in late September after which they are macerated for 4 weeks with the skin of the Sangiovese and 20 days with the skin of the Malvasia. Then the juice of the Malvasia Nera is aged for 12 months in cement vats while the Sangiovese is aged for the same amount of time in large Slovenian oak barrels. The blend then matures for a further 6 months in bottle before going on sale.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
