Mesum is a wine with an ancient soul and a deep connection to the traditions of Trentino. It comes from grapes grown in a vineyard that faithfully mimics the fresco of the month of October from Master Wenceslas's 14th-century "Cycle of Months", painted on the walls of the Torre dell'Aquila in the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento. This vineyard is not only a tribute to farm life of yesteryear, but also a living example of biodynamic farming: without cement, plastic or iron wire - only local chestnut stakes and natural materials are used.
The grapes used are entirely from resistant PIWI varieties, which require no chemical treatments. Work in the vineyard is done entirely by hand, without motorised machinery. In autumn, the grapes are picked and traditionally foot-pressed. The must then ferments and matures for six months on the skins in a terracotta amphora, resulting in a natural wine that is pure, unfiltered and authentic.
Mesum presents itself with a warm golden yellow colour and smells intensely of yellow flowers, chamomile and acacia honey. On the palate, it is pleasantly soft and full-bodied, with a mild sweetness, perfectly balanced with its lively acidity. This wine is a poetic ode to the past, with a modern take on sustainability and respect for nature - a true tribute to the rich viticultural history of the Valle dei Laghi.
