Product description
Miocene Bardolino DOC Cru La Rocca is a wine with a story deeply rooted in the geology as well as the soul of the Bardolino terroir. The name Miocene refers to the geological era that followed the Eocene, a time of great changes in the earth's crust. Like its 'brother' Eocene, this wine also has its roots in the rich history of Lake Garda. It comes from Calmasino, home of the winery, and the hill La Rocca - created from the erosion of glaciers during the last ice age - is at the heart of this unique Cru terroir. This wine also carries a musical touch, with a subtle reference on the label to a song by The Ocean Collective, which, like the wine itself, tells a story of layering and emotion.
Composed of 85% Corvina, 5% Rondinella and 10% Sangiovese, the wine is harvested by hand. After destemming, the grapes are spontaneously fermented with native yeasts derived from Corvina, with the must remaining in contact with the skins in stainless steel vats for seven days. During the first part of fermentation, light overpumping and submergence is carried out to ensure elegant extraction. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in a used 7.5-hl wooden barrel, whose decades of use allow for gentle ageing without excessive wood influence.
Miocene presents itself with a bright, light ruby colour and a scent of fresh red fruit. In the bouquet, delicate aromas of woodland strawberry, white pepper and a hint of Mediterranean spices emerge. This refined Bardolino is a subtle ode to the landscape, history and evolution of the region - a wine that, with its elegant character and long ageing period, embodies both the tradition and the future of Bardolino.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
