The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP is a red wine with an intense red colour with purple hues. The wine has scents of blueberries, ripe cherries and traces of blood and cinnamon. The wine is made from 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes.
This wine is harvested in October. The grapes are hand-picked and are left to rest for 16 hours after harvest to allow the aromas to be fully expressed. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks where the wine ferments and matures for a further 9 months before being bottled and where it remains for another 6 months before being released to the market.
The wine is full and enveloping on the palate with a very present tannin that reveals another long ageing process. 3,500 bottles of this wine are produced annually. Serve with typical dishes from the Abruzzo region such as grilled meat, pecorino cheese or local meatballs.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
