This Nero d'Avola DOC Sicilia is a characterful red wine from the heart of western Sicily, from vineyards in Salemi at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. This wine is made from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes, grown on clay-rich soils that contribute to its structure and elegance. The grapes, from six-year-old vines, are manually harvested in late August for optimum ripeness and aromatic expression.
After harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, followed by a 10-day skin soaking at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and lasts about ten days. The wine then ages for 12 months in tonneaux and a further three months in bottle, ensuring a harmonious integration of flavours and aromas.
In the glass, Nero d'Avola shows vivid garnet red, with a delicate scent of red berries and ripe cherries. On the palate, it is elegant, full-bodied and supple, with a lingering finish and soft tannins. This wine is particularly suitable with rich dishes such as hearty soups, grilled or braised red meat. Serve at a temperature of 16°C in a tulip-shaped glass for the best flavour experience.
