Product description
The Picotendro is the local name for Nebbiolo grapes, known for their small and delicate berries. This name has been mentioned in documents since 1587, underlining the long history and tradition of this grape variety in the region. Picotendro is a young wine made from carefully selected grapes and vinified using traditional methods. The entire production process - from alcoholic and malolactic fermentation to maturation on fine lees - takes place in stainless steel tanks. This process focuses on maximising the fruity and juicy character of the Nebbiolo grapes.
The wine has a light ruby red colour, typical of this grape variety. Fine, fruity aromas emerge on the nose, with notes of raspberry, wild cherry, vanilla and clove, complemented by a slight spiciness. The palate is soft, dry and fruity, with a light tannic structure and a subtle almondy finish. The alcohol content is 14%, giving it a pleasant fullness, while overall acidity is at least 5.5 g/l and dry extract is at least 28 g/l, contributing to the wine's body.
The Nebbiolo grapes are grown on steep, well-drained slopes rich in pebbles, with a south to south-east exposure, at an altitude of 350 to 400 metres above sea level. The vineyards are located in the communes of Donnas, Perloz, Pont-Saint-Martin and Bard. The vines are grown using the pergola system, with a density of 2,500 vines per hectare and a yield of 70 quintals per hectare.
The harvest takes place between mid- and late October. After harvesting, the wine matures for four months in stainless steel tanks, after which it matures in bottle for a further four months to further refine its flavour.

This wine is an excellent accompaniment to cold cuts, traditional soups from the Valle d'Aosta region, red meats and cheeses. The Picotendro offers an authentic and fruity wine experience, ideal for those looking for a young Nebbiolo with a soft and delicate flavour.
