The name "Piedirosso" comes from a special feature of the grape: the red stalks of the berries, which look like the color of pigeon feet. This grape has very old roots. According to the scholar Carlucci, Piedirosso might be the same as the "Palombina nera" mentioned by Herrer Sederini in the 16th century, and even the "Colombina" from Pliny’s Naturalis Historia in the 1st century. This wine brings a piece of history into every glass, a legacy from ancient times.
