      Product description

      The 2017 vintage of this Tuscan wine is a blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Canaiolo, made from 65-year-old vines in San Miniato, Pisa. The wine comes from a soil base of sandstone, enriched with marine fossils from the Pliocene era, well integrated with white clay and a high pH. This terroir provides a wine with rich minerality and depth. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 100-150 meters above sea level, with a low vine density of 4,000 vines per hectare, contributing to the intensity of the grapes.

      The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of October, when they reach optimal ripeness. The fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled cement vats, with a 28-day maceration on the skins. After fermentation, the wine ages for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and then matures for 8 months in the bottle. This long aging process results in an elegant and robust wine with a beautiful balance of tannins and acidity.

      The wine has a deep ruby red color with purple edges. The nose is complex and vinous, with aromas of violets, leather, and coffee. The taste is powerful and earthy, with an elegant structure of acidity and tannins typical of the Sangiovese grape. This wine pairs excellently with first courses, even more elaborate dishes, farmyard animals, traditional Tuscan cuisine, cheeses, cold cuts, and hearty soups. Store the bottle on its side in a cool place (below 20°C) and uncork at least an hour before serving for the best tasting experience.
