Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes Terre Natale is a distinctive and elegant wine from 40-year-old vines growing on a unique site called Schuetzenrain - literally "protected from the rain". This particular location, combined with a terroir of marl and limestone with deposits of calcareous boulders of marine origin, creates a wine with distinct character and aromatic depth.
On the nose, this Pinot Gris opens up with warm aromas of roasted and dried fruits, orange peel and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, the aromatic profile comes into its own with dried fruit again, a hint of toast, and a full-bodied attack that turns into a fresh, lively finish. Thanks to careful vinification - with slow pressing, spontaneous fermentation without added yeasts and a six-month ageing on fine lees - the grape's authentic character is fully preserved. The wine is bottled on the estate, and only released when it reaches its full potential.
Muriel Gueth recommends this wine as an excellent choice for aperitifs, but also with surprising combinations such as chicken with crayfish, a spicy lamb tagine, lentils with turmeric or duck breast with honey.
