The 'Corto' Vin Rouge de Pays des Côtes Catalanes is a red wine made from Grenache, Syrah and Carignan that goes great with spicy dishes of Asian cuisine.
The Corto is an elegant and characterful wine from the Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes.
The Corto is an elegant and characterful wine from the Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, this wine offers a fruity and spicy experience, enriched with aromas of very ripe red fruits, vanilla and cocoa. The vineyards are located in the Aspres region, at the foot of the Pyrenees. Trouillas' terroir, characterised by loamy-clay soils with an extremely stony surface, provides ideal conditions for viticulture. The vineyards are sustainably managed and benefit from excellent exposure on the slopes of Mas Deu and the terraces between Trouillas and Terrats. The blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan creates a wine with depth and complexity.
The vinification starts with a maceration pré-fermentaire à froid, followed by pigeages and délestages in thermo-regulated cuves. Maturation in American oak adds a subtle wood touch to the wine. On tasting, the Corto reveals a deep garnet red colour with purple reflections. The intense bouquet evokes cherries, stone fruits, blackberries and fine spices. The palate is full and juicy, with a supple and crisp texture. The aromas are bright and precise, resulting in a warm and balanced wine. This wine goes well with spicy dishes such as chilli con carne, Asian cuisine and couscous. The Corto has a five-year storage potential and is best served between 13 and 14°C. With an impressive score of 88/100 at Gilbert and Gaillard in 2021 and a gold medal with a score of 14.5/20 at Jancis Robinson, this wine is a true embodiment of craftsmanship and finesse.
