Nera Vini's 'Satiro' Rosso di Valtellina DOC is a red wine made from Nebbiolo, Pignola and Rossola that goes perfectly with pasta, risotto and fish. The local Nebbiolo grapes called 'Chiavennasca' are grown in a classic valtellina vineyard between 250 and 700 altitude. The grapes are hand-picked and, after fermentation on the 'Capello sommerso' method, aged for 6 months in oak barrels before finishing in steel tanks. The wine has a medium aging of 3 to 4 years. The wine is best enjoyed with light pasta and fish dishes.
Nera Vini actually consists of two wine companies: Casa Vinicola Pietro Nera and Azienda Agricola Caven. Both vineyards originate from the work of Pietro Nera, who combined several surrounding vineyards into the Nera vineyard in the 1950s. In 1982, a portion of this was divided, and it was Stefane and Simone Nera who took part of the vineyard for themselves: Agricola Caven.
