Scrum Vino Rosso is a powerful and characterful wine, born of passion for sport as well as for wine. The name "Scrum" refers to the intense, concentrated power of a rugby melee: sixteen players coming together in a clash full of energy, precision and team spirit. For winemaker Bigagnoli, who comes from rugby himself, this wine is a tribute to the game that shaped him. A blend of grapes that balance each other: refinement and elegance of Corvina (80%) versus the raw power of Oseleta (20%). Together they create a flavourful harmony - a perfect play of character and structure.
The grapes are harvested manually in the hilly vineyards of Calmasino di Bardolino and Cavaion Veronese. After careful vinification on skins for 15 to 20 days at controlled temperature, the wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation in steel. Then the special ageing process begins: 16 months in a Clayver ceramic anfora, a modern and pure method that allows the grape to retain its true character, without the influence of wood. Each month of ageing symbolises one player in the scrum - strong together, balanced together.
Scrum presents itself with a deep ruby colour and subtle orange reflections. In the nose, intense aromas of blackberry, strawberry, candied red fruit and spicy notes of black pepper and spices dominate. On the palate, the wine is fresh and firm, with a soft tannic structure, supported by a pleasant alcoholic warmth and a long, persistent finish. This wine is not just an ode to the grape or the terroir, but also to friendship, fighting spirit and passion. Scrum is a wine that invites perception - in good company, with power and elegance in every sip.
