The Spätburgunder Trocken 2021 from Fürst Hohenlohe Oehringen is a beautifully ruby red, juicy, full-bodied red wine made from 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir).
This Spätburgunder presents itself with an intense ruby red color with beautiful violet reflections. The aromas are rich in cherry and cassis, which blend perfectly with the full-bodied, ripe tannins. The long, powerful finish highlights the depth of the wine, while the juicy, lively structure is enhanced by fresh acidity. The Pinot character is evident in the harmony of flavors. Part of the wine was developed in barriques, some of which were previously used several times, further enhancing its complexity and softness.
The terroir of this wine consists mainly of Gipskeuper, which provides fine minerality and a unique structure. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine is guaranteed drinking pleasure until 2031, if served at an optimal drinking temperature of 18°C.
The 2021 vintage was created under challenging conditions. Late spring frosts and a summer with little sun and above-average rainfall made it a very demanding year for viticulture. In addition to high pressure from fungal diseases, the abundant foliage growth created extra work. However, intensive manual care in the vineyard and a highly selective manual harvest resulted in a wine that reflects the character of a true “cool climate vintage.”
This wine offers an impressive combination of power and finesse and will only continue to develop in the years to come.
Fürst Hohenlohe Oehringen, one of the oldest family-owned businesses in Germany, has mastered the art of winemaking since 1253. This VDP-certified estate, now in its 27th generation, is renowned for its organically certified vineyards, including the prestigious monopoly vineyard "Verrenberger Verrenberg." On 17 hectares of carefully selected plots, traditional grape varieties such as Riesling, Lemberger, and Pinot Noir are cultivated.
