The "Vagabondo Rosso" by Marcel Zanolari comes from the scenic Valtellina region in Sondrio province, from Villa di Tirano, Bianzone, and Teglio. This red wine is an exciting blend of Pinot Nero and Cabernet grapes, giving it a unique and versatile taste. With 9875 m² and 7000 plants per hectare, it reflects the richness of this mountain area. The low yield of about 250 grams per vine emphasizes care and bold flavor.
The process blends tradition with natural finesse. It starts with partial appassimento in the vineyard, where the grapes dry slightly and concentrate their taste. The wine is made in steel tanks with a cold phase of about 7 days and a 30-day fermentation with natural yeasts. Then it ages partly in used barrels and partly in clay-cement amphorae, adding depth. Unfiltered and authentic, it comes in 75 cl bottles. Serve at 14-18 °C, opened a few hours before; it keeps for 1-10 years.
The "Vagabondo Rosso" reveals ripe plums, blackberries, spicy notes, honey, and aromatic herbs – warm and welcoming. It’s perfect with game like pheasant or hare, and with fruity compotes or preserves that enhance the meal. Every sip carries Marcel Zanolari’s craft and Valtellina’s free spirit, great for fans of adventurous, natural wines.
