The 2020 Verrenberg Lemberger Trocken is a juicy, powerful red wine made from 100% Lemberger and is best enjoyed with wild boar and vegetable stew.
The 2020 Verrenberg Lemberger has a deep ruby red color with violet reflections. The wine reveals lush aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums, with a full-bodied structure and ripe tannins. On the palate, this Lemberger is juicy and lively, with a powerful, long finish that highlights its depth and elegance.
This wine comes from carefully selected parcels in the Verrenberger Verrenberg and is aged in second-use barrique barrels, which gives the wine subtle wood tones without overpowering the fruity expression. With an alcohol content of 13.0%, the wine is at its best until 2028 and is recommended to be served at 18°C.
Vintage characteristics: The 2020 growing season started early due to a warm April. Unfortunately, frost damage during the Icing season in May caused problems in some locations. Warm temperatures in August led to an accelerated ripening process, so the harvest was completed in early September, resulting in smaller yields but intense flavors.
Wine pairing: The 2020 Verrenberg Lemberger pairs beautifully with classic onion roast with dark sauce and spätzle. Game dishes such as wild boar ragout with juniper gravy and napa dumplings also make an excellent complement, with the rich flavors of the dish enhancing the juicy, powerful structure of the wine.
