The Verrenberg Spätburgunder Trocken 2021 is a lively, juicy fruity red wine made from 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and is best enjoyed with filet of lamb, or vegetable stew.
The 2021 Verrenberg Pinot Noir has a deep ruby color and seduces with rich aromas of cherry and cassis. The wine has a pleasing tannic structure, resulting in a fruity and powerful finish, supported by lively acidity. The juicy, fresh notes are enhanced by aging in 500-liter tonneaus and 228-liter barriques of second occupancy. This Pinot Noir comes from the Verrenberg vineyards of Goldberg and Verrenberg, demonstrating the character of the terroir.
With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine offers drinking pleasure until 2030 and is best enjoyed at a drinking temperature of 18°C.
Vintage features: 2021 was a challenging vintage with late frosts in the spring, little sun in the summer, and above-average rainfall. This led to intensive vineyard care due to high fungal disease pressure and substantial foliage growth. Careful manual work and selective hand picking still resulted in a quality wine. These conditions made 2021 a true “cool climate vintage.”
Winepairing combination: The 2021 Verrenberg Pinot Noir comes beautifully alongside dishes such as Swabian onion roast with red wine sauce and spätzle. The full flavors of sautéed lamb filet with Mediterranean vegetables also go well with the wine's fruity and lively character. In addition, raclette with cheddar and ham makes a delicious combination, with the wine subtly supporting and balancing the rich flavors of the cheese and ham.
