      Product description

The Verrenberger Verrenberg 'Grosses Gewächs' Riesling Trocken 2022 is a highly concentrated, tropical white wine made from 100% Riesling with many mineral notes.

The 2022 Verrenberger Verrenberg Riesling “Grosses Gewächs” is a highly concentrated, voluminous Riesling that impresses with its abundance of ripe fruit aromas such as mango, quince and apricot. Supportive, ripe acidity provides refined balance and a rich, melt-in-your-mouth finish. This is an extremely mineral wine with great potential for further aging and a wonderful reflection of the unique Verrenberger Verrenberg monopoly location.

The wine is aged in large wooden barrels, which adds to its complexity and structure. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this Riesling is best enjoyed at a drinking temperature of 6 to 8°C. Its drinking pleasure extends to 2030, making this wine an excellent choice for both now and longer storage.

The 2022 vintage brought with it its challenges, particularly due to sparse rainfall in the summer and frost in the spring. Despite these difficulties, the vintage managed to shine with stimulating acidity and optimal sugar levels, showing the promise of great wines early in the cellar.

In 2022, late frosts caused a smaller than normal harvest, but the grapes were still able to ripen extremely well thanks to dry, sunny conditions. Compared to 2018, the year was less warm, and light summer rain in August prevented drought stress for the vines. All this resulted in a vintage with distinctive varietal and vineyard characteristics, complemented by pleasant acidity.
