      Product description

The Vieilles Vignes is a noble wine sourced from selected vineyards with old vines of the autochthonous Nebbiolo biotype Picotendro. The grapes are harvested at an advanced stage of ripening, and a small percentage of Fumin is added, which helps soften the tannins and increase the colour intensity.

The Vieilles Vignes represents a niche wine variety in the local wine tradition. Previously, in the best years, winemakers would reserve a small proportion of their last harvested grapes, picked in November, for later vinification.

The wine has a ruby red colour and is made from the finest grapes.

The wine has a ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose is full and elegant, with notes of sour cherry, blueberry and rosehip. On the palate, it is dry, round and harmonious. Alcohol content is 14.5%, total acidity is 6.22 g/l, and dry extract is 32.60 g/l.

The grapes are 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Fumin. The vineyards are situated on steep, well-drained slopes rich in pebbles, facing south to south-east, at an altitude of 350 to 400 metres above sea level in the communes of Donnas, Perloz, Pont-Saint-Martin and Bard. Vines are grown in the pergola system, with a density of 2,500 vines per hectare and a yield of 60 quintals per hectare.

The harvest takes place in the first to second November decade. After vinification in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 24 months in 25-hectolitre oak barrels.

The Vieilles Vignes goes extremely well with red meat, game and very mature cheeses.
