The 'Vigna Le Nicchie' Tempranillo Prephylloxera is a red wine made from 100% Tempranillo that is best drunk with stews, game or dishes with chocolate.
The wine has a deep purple colour characteristic of the grape variety. On the nose, flowers and fruit are overtly noticeable with hints of liquorice, coffee and leather if the bottle has been aged a little longer. The mouthfeel is creamy, with a velvety finish while elegant tannins accompany the wine. The grapes are plutked in early September after which they are dried for 4 weeks after which some 70% of the grape's weight remains. Vinification takes place in cement vats with a 6-week maceration on skins. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels for 2 years after which the wine matures in bottle for a further 24 months.
