Product description
Vigne Vecchie is a tribute to the Tiberini family's oldest vineyard, planted by Giuseppe Tiberini in 1918. This historic vineyard is cherished with as much care and devotion as a beloved mother figure, as from its deep-rooted vines emerges a wine that embodies wisdom, character and terroir in every detail. Just as elders can convey deep insights with their stories, old vines uniquely know how to express the essence of their environment in wine. Located on a hill overlooking Montepulciano, the vineyard is rich in Pliocene sand, clay and marl, elements that contribute to the particularly refined expression of this wine.
The blend consists of 85% Prugnolo Gentile and 15% Canaiolo Nero, Mammolo and other indigenous grapes. Aging takes place in 500-litre French oak tonneaux, with the aim not to let the wood aroma dominate, but to bring out the depth and complexity of the old vines through natural micro-oxidation. In the glass, the wine shows ruby red with garnet hues and a subtle violet edge. The bouquet opens with ripe forest fruits, spices, black pepper and a touch of orange peel. The recognisable hint of Coscia di Monaca, Montepulciano's local plum, makes this wine unmistakably Tiberini.
The palate is full and structured, elegant and harmonious, with soft tannins and lively acidity providing freshness. Vigne Vecchie pairs excellently with grilled or roasted red meat, game and aged cheeses, but is also particularly pleasant to enjoy without food, purely to appreciate its character and depth. Serve this wine preferably at 18 to 20°C and open the bottle several hours in advance to make the most of its aromas. A wine full of soul, tradition and timeless class.
