    Barbera is often compared to Nebbiolo due to its deep color, high acidity, and moderate tannins. Unlike Nebbiolo, which is the opposite in these three aspects, Barbera is known for its accessibility and fruity character.

    Change from light and fruity to powerful and deep wine

    The traditional style of Barbera has significantly changed in recent decades due to innovative vinification techniques. Previously, Barbera wines were often produced as light and fruity, but today some producers create powerful and deep Barbera wines using aging in French oak barrels.

    Price differences

    Barbera wines are available in various price ranges, from affordable wines to exclusive, sometimes very expensive, wines. The main appellations (designations of origin) for Barbera are Barbera d'Asti DOCG and Barbera d'Alba DOC, both known for their high quality and characteristic properties.

    What about the shipping costs?

    Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery.
    All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.

    To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.

    The following shipping costs apply:

    • 6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
    • 12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs

    You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
