'Zeja' Garganega IGT Verona is an expressive white wine that showcases the character of the Garganega grape and the rugged terroir of the hills around Cavaion Veronese and Calmasino in all its glory. The name "Zeja" is an intimate tribute to the winemaker's sons Zeno and Jacopo, reflecting not only familial connection but also the personal passion with which this wine is created. The vineyard from which this Garganega comes is characterised by a particularly stony subsoil. It is precisely this difficult terrain that gives the wine its distinctive minerality and pronounced briny freshness.
After a careful manual harvest, the grapes are gently pressed as whole bunches. The juice then undergoes a short skin maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation with a proprietary pied de cuve of Garganega. The wine then rests on fine yeasts in stainless steel tanks for at least another three to four months, adding complexity and depth.
In the glass, Zeja shines in a bright yellow colour. The nose opens with aromas of white and yellow stone fruit, exotic notes, white blossom and a hint of aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh and tight, with a lively minerality and a salty touch that excites the senses. Zeja is a quirky and elegant wine, dry and crisp, that evolves beautifully in the bottle - just like the story of the family that made it. Founder Stefano Bigagnoli made his first wine in the garage of his family home and immediately won first prize at the Wine Contest Garage Genoa with his sparkling Bardolino Chiaretto 'AKA'. Behind this name is the dream of a self-taught winemaker who found his calling in the world of wine after years of study, experimentation and artisan vinification. Encouraged by wine expert Angelo Peretti, he decided to pursue his dream and start the adventure of professional winemaking.
